Problem |
Graphs pasted into other applications may fail to display correctly |
Description |
After pasting a GraFit graph into certain applications, the position of many different elements of the graph may be incorrect and rotated text may not display correctly. |
Date |
2 June 1998; updated 27 October, 2007 |
Versions affected |
All |
Status |
The problem arises from incorrect conversion of the Windows metafile image that is passed from GraFit to the target application, and is the fault of the target application. Windows uses an internal format known as a metafile in order to draw images. Applications that display the metafiles generated by GraFit without modification do not demonstrate this problem. However, some programs attempt to convert the metafile image into their own internal format. If they do this incorrectly then the displayed image is corrupted. Please report any programs that show conversion problems to so that we can document the matter. |
Work-around |
Export the graph as a bitmap image (we recommend compressed TIFF format) and import this into your target application. |
