Description

When you double-click on a GraFit data, Windows uses information in the Windows Registry to locate the application that is associated with file. However, if you have installed or uninstalled GraFit, for example to use an earlier version, then this information can become out of date.

If you wish to switch between using different versions of GraFit then you will need to follow the instructions below to ensure that the program is correctly configured.

Versions affected

All versions of GraFit when running on Vista or Windows 7 or later.

Work-around

Solution to restore GraFit version 6.0.10 and later, including GraFit 7

You will need to have an Administrator username and password to allow this. Please see your System Administrator if you need assistance. It is only necessary to run GraFit once in administrator mode in order to reset the file association information, and after the program has launched in administrator mode it can be closed again to allow normal operation.

Solution to restore GraFit version 6 (6.0.9 and earlier)

2. Extract the file Restore GraFit 6.reg from the downloaded ZIP file

3. Double-click on the Restore GraFit 6.reg file to reset the GraFit information stored in the registry. You will have to confirm that you wish carry out this action and that this will modify your registry.

Solution to restore GraFit version 5

2. Extract the file Restore GraFit 5.reg from the downloaded ZIP file

3. Double-click on the Restore GraFit 5.reg file to reset the GraFit information stored in the registry. You will have to confirm that you wish carry out this action and that this will modify your registry.

An Administrator-level account is needed in order to modify the registry and you should consult your system administrator if you need assistance with this.
